Lionel Messi has urged his team, Inter Miami, to sign Croatian legend Luka Modric in 2024. The iconic midfielder has fallen out of the pecking order of manager Carlo Ancelotti’s squad at Real Madrid and might look for a new adventure at this stage.
According to former Real Madrid forward Pedja Mijatovic, the World Cup winner believes that the veteran midfielder would fit in perfectly in the MLS. Leo has reportedly approached his club’s co-owner and former Manchester United star David Beckham about the potential transfer of the La Liga star.
In a recent interview, Mijatovic said, “Modric has received offers from the United States, from many teams and from this one in particular. He already had the one in Saudi Arabia but he wanted to stay in Madrid. Messi himself has personally been interested in the possibility. In Croatia, a few days ago, Modric met Beckham, where they were eating”.
The midfielder has recently talked about working hard and getting his place back in the starting XI. But opportunities are hard to come by for the 38-year-old, given the depth of his squad. He is currently competing against the likes of Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, and others for the spot.
A possible transfer to Inter Miami could be something in which Luka Modric might be interested. Messi believes that it would be beneficial for both parties for Inter Miami to purchase Modric during the upcoming window in January 2024.
