Ariel Helwani takes jab at Paddy Pimblett while receiving Best Journalist trophy at World MMA Awards

Ariel Helwani and Paddy Pimblett engaged in a war of words this week following the Scouser’s controversial rant directed at the journalist.

‘The Baddy’ labeled Helwani a “content creator” and not a journalist and claimed that he exploits MMA fighters for his financial gain. Pimblett’s comments were made during the most recent episode of his podcast, Chattin Pony, with Dana White as a guest.

Ariel Helwani was awarded the Journalist of the Year award at the World MMA Awards last night and took a stab at ‘The Baddy’ during his acceptance speech. Whilst making reference to Pimblett’s ‘content creator’ insult, Helwani said:

“Not bad for a content creator, huh?”

Dana White is well known for his dislike of Helwani, which stems from an incident in 2016 where the journalist allegedly ‘leaked’ news of Brock Lesnar’s return to the UFC.

Paddy Pimblett and Helwani also had a falling out in November 2021, due to the Scouser requesting payment in exchange for an interview.

During the most recent episode of Pimblett’s podcast with Dana White, ‘The Baddy’ said this about Helwani:

“Ariel Helwani in particular, he loves earning money off fighters. Every decent job he’s had, he’s been sacked from. And now he’s just a biased content creator.”

Paddy Pimblett claims UFC 282 will be his breakout performance

Paddy Pimblett will be fighting on a UFC pay-per-view card for the first time in his career when he takes on Jared Gordon in the co-main event of UFC 282.

‘The Baddy’ is one of the most hyped UFC prospects right now, but he will be quick to admit that he has not performed to his capabilities in the promotion just yet.

Pimblett has three finishes from three fights in the UFC, and the Liverpudlian plans on making it four-from-four against Gordon. ‘The Baddy’ recently sat down with former UFC champion Michael Bisping to discuss his upcoming fight at UFC 282.

Paddy Pimblett said:

“I can’t wait to put on a clinic lad. I think this is going to be my breakout performance [in the UFC]… It’s either going to be a knockout or I hurt him with my hands and kicks, and then he tries to grapple and I submit him.”

Paddy Pimblett’s stock continues to rise in the UFC, and with a stellar performance on Saturday night, ‘The Baddy’ could very well headline a UFC Fight Night card soon.
