Arsenal are challenging Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the top of the Premier League once again and their own version of Norwegian striker Erling Haaland could help them in their title battle.
Martin Odegaard has become Arsenal’s own version of Manchester City star Erling Haaland with his “amazing” performances, it has been claimed.
The Norwegian playmaker has become a key player for the Gunners since his initial arrival on loan from Real Madrid. His displays have continually improved, eventually sealing him a permanent switch to the Emirates, whilst he was also named as Arsenal captain.
The 24-year-old already has four goals to his name in all competitions this term. Pundit Don Hutchinson claims that he is now matching international colleague Haaland for his importance to his side, whilst also earning comparisons with Kevin De Bruyne.
“Amazing player,” Hutchison said to Premier League Productions. “He reminds me of Kevin De Bruyne in how influential he is on the pitch and how good he is on the ball.
“Never really panics. Always seems to make the right decisions. He gets in good areas. I think he is the one, when you talk about Erling Haaland, De Bruyne or Rodri, who make Man City tick, then I think Bukayo Saka, and even more so, this man, Odegaard, he is the top man.
“He’s not particularly vocal, but he does it by his actions. When they are losing games. He then says ‘give me the ball. I still want it. I will still take it in tight areas’ – 24 and to be captain of Arsenal. What a position to be in. Unbelievable player.”

Hutchinson is not the only one to have been full of praise for Odegaard over the opening weeks of the campaign. His Norwegian teammate and great friend Haaland has also been waxing lyrical.

Asked which Premier League players he rates highly at the PFA Players’ Player of the Year awards, the Man City hitman said: “Odegaard, my good friend. He’s amazing and he’s been taking so many good steps at Arsenal with [Mikel] Arteta ever since he came there and now he’s the captain.”
Odegaard will no doubt be aiming to be a pivotal figure for Arsenal in what promises to be a key week. Mikel Arteta’s side at first travel to France to take on Lens in the Champions League.
