CBS journalist claims Arsenal defender will seek permanent exit in the summer

Arsenal will be looking to make a huge statement with a win when they host Manchester City on Sunday 8th October.

Mikel Arteta’s side narrowly lost out on the Premier League title to Pep Guardiola’s City side last term, meaning that Gunners will be out for revenge.

The Citizens suffered a setback ahead of the game as key midfielder Rodri received a suspension that will keep him out of action for the Arsenal clash.

City also suffered a shock defeat against Wolves on Saturday, with Guardiola’s side losing 2-1 at Molineux.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have won five of their seven league games so far and remain unbeaten after a 4-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

The North London outfit have been hit with some injuries to key players, including Gabriel Magalhaes, Jurrien Timber, and Thomas Partey.

Smith Rowe has struggled for game time recently, which could encourage him to seek an exit in January.

It also seems that Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka picked up knocks, which could cause more selection headaches for Arteta.

However, it now seems that the squad could get thinner with a player considering a move away from the club if his status in the team doesn’t change.

According to 90min, Emile Smith Rowe could leave Arsenal in January if he is not included regularly in Arteta’s first-team plans.

The report claims that the player is considering leaving the club if he is not getting regular first-team action.

Smith Rowe, 23, worked his way up to the first team through the youth ranks at Hale End and has even secured three senior caps for England.

The midfielder has made 100 first-team appearances for the North Londoners but has only featured in one Premier League game this season.

In those 100 games, the Englishman has netted 18 goals and provided 11 assists for his side.

The midfielder is contracted to the club until 2026, but an exit in January or next summer looks very likely if Smith Rowe continues to struggle for game time.
