Arsenal are still going strong in their quest for the Premier League title and their next match will be against Sean Dyche’s Everton.
The Gunners picked up a well-fought 1-0 win over Leicester City at the weekend which means they are still two points clear at the top of the table plus they also have a game in hand.
Everton have not been able to revive their fortunes under Sean Dyche because they still are within the relegation zone but Dyche is the kind of manager who usually sets up his side to frustrate bigger opponents so Arsenal could be in for a tough night.
Arsenal are obviously the overwhelming favourites to win on Wednesday night but Everton are desperate to get out of the bottom three so even a point will be a great result for the Merseyside team. We think this one is once again going to be a 1-0 or 2-0 kind of game for the Gunners because the Toffees will sit deep and look to play on the counter.
Arsenal’s team news and injuries:
Mikel Arteta is working with a very small squad so the manager cannot afford to make wholesale changes to the team which played against Leicester City.
Thankfully, the Gunners are not in Europe so they don’t have a very tight schedule to deal with.
The defensive line is hopefully going to remain unchanged but there’s a chance that Tomiyasu could replace Ben White on the right-hand side.
Jorginho has slotted in very well since joining from Chelsea in January but against Everton, Thomas Partey is going to come back into the starting line up.
Xhaka has been a mainstay in the middle of the pitch so he will obviously start with Odegaard operating in the No 10 role.
Gabriel Martinelli had another stellar outing at the weekend and his top form means Leandro Trossard will have to be content with a place on the bench.
Trossard played through the middle vs Leicester and he also had a good game but in midweek, Nketiah is going to come into the side.
Elneny and Gabriel Jesus are the only two injured Arsenal players right now and neither of them will be available for selection on Wednesday night.
Talking about Jesus’ fitness, Arteta updated last week: ‘He’s doing more and more on the field. The knee’s not reacting, so it’s positive. We want him back quickly but respect the timeline from the doctors and the specialists. He’s really pushing the boundaries.’
Arsenal predicted line up vs Everton:
Predicted Starting Line up(4-2-3-1): Ramsdale; White/Tomiyasu, Gabriel, Saliba, Zinchenko; Xhaka, Thomas Partey; Odegaard, Martinelli, Saka; Nketiah.
