UFC Superstar Conor McGregor was just hit by a car while driving his bike

Conor McGregor is never too far away from the main headlines, but today, it is not his passion for combat sports or his controversial nature that has the world talking, it is instead the fact that he luckily escaped lasting damage after being hit by a car.

Rumors are beginning to circulate regarding ‘The Notorious’ and his return to the octagon, something that has a large number of MMA fans unable to contain their excitement. The last time the lightweight competed, he suffered a broken leg which halted what was shaping up to be a great third encounter with Dustin Poirier.

In a post on social media, Conor McGregor revealed that he had been hit by a car whilst cycling but managed to emerge from the situation unscathed, insisting that his knowledge of wrestling and judo ultimately saved him from any serious harm.

“Got a bang of a car just now from behind. A sun trap, the driver couldn’t see me. Full speed straight through me. Thank you God, it wasn’t my time. Thank you wrestling and judo also. Having an awareness on the landing saved my life.”

While the severity of the collision is unknown, McGregor did reveal his torn clothes and what looked like a small open wound on his upper leg. Thankfully, all ended well and the motorist offered to drive the UFC star back home as his bike seemed to be in no condition to travel.

What’s next for Conor McGregor

With a potential return to the cage beginning to heat up, Conor McGregor has a number of options at his disposal for when he eventually does lace up the gloves and compete once again.

The former two-division UFC champion has signaled his intent at fighting at welterweight when he steps back into the octagon and a handful of fighters have been mentioned alongside the superstar.

One recurring name thought to be next up for the Dublin native is Michael Chandler, who has been public about his interest in the matchup, believing it has all the intentions to earn fight-of-the-year honors.

Surprisingly, McGregor recently announced that the UFC had been in contact with him regarding being a coach in the upcoming season of TUF, with Tony Ferguson expected to be the man in the opposite corner.
