Newly crowned UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad is ecstatic after defeating Leon Edwards at UFC 304 in Manchester, England. His victory marks the culmination of years of being underestimated. Before the fight, Muhammad’s coach, Roberto Ramirez, compared his punches to Canelo Alvarez’s in a UFC video interview. This comparison was ridiculed by critics and even prompted a mocking laughing emoji from two-division champion Conor McGregor.
Now, with a desire for payback against Conor McGregor, Belal Muhammad recently took a dig at the former champion on his X account. Conor Mcgregor recently reposted a clip of him in his prime era fighting against Eddie Alvarez. In the clip, Conor Mcgregor smoothly dodged a punch from Alvarez and landed a counterpunch to the face. Feeling confident, Mcgregor captioned the post,” I’m even smoother now.” Belal Muhammad responded with the same emoji McGregor used:”😂😂😂.”
The ongoing feud between Mcgregor and Belal Muhammad has also intensified due to Muhammad’s growing friendship with former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, Mcgregor’s primary rival. Recently, McGregor even criticized UFC 304, claiming it couldn’t sell even PPVs, despite the Card’s PPV numbers not being publically released.
Conor Mcgregor, who was on the verge of returning to the octagon after a two-year hiatus, has seen his comeback plans repeatedly derailed by issues with USADA or his Hollywood ventures. This time, he was almost set to return at UFC 303 against Michael Chandler in the welterweight division on June 29th but was forced to withdraw due to injury. Belal mocked McGregor’s decision to fight at welterweight, even dragging his co-star from the Hollywood movie “Road House.” into banter.
Belal Muhammad Roasts Conor Mcgregor
Conor Mcgregor, known for his outspoken personality, made headlines in a May livestream with Duel Bits when he criticized both former welterweight champion Leon Edwards and current champion Belal Muhammad. He said, “There’s too many decisions going on now with that Leon fella. Leon Edwards loves a decision. And then he’s fighting another f***ing decision guy, your man Belal Muhammad, so not great times in the welterweight title picture.”
Not happy with McGregor’s comments, Belal Muhammad swiftly countered his aspirations, suggesting McGregor focus on his return to the octagon against Michael Chandler in the welterweight division rather than moving up in weight. Muhammad claimed Mcgregor couldn’t even defeat Jake Gyllenhaal in the movie Road House, questioning his competitive intent in the UFC. Belal Muhammad replied to Conor Mcgregor, “Didn’t this guy get finished by Jake Gyllenhaal?”
Looking at the escalating beef between Belal Muhammad and Conor Mcgregor it could potentially overshadow the rivalry between Khabib and McGregor in terms of animosity.
