Charles Oliveira was videotaped backstage saying that he will destroy Islam Makhachev at UFC 280

Charles Oliveira will take on Islam Makhachev in the most anticipated lightweight title fight since Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Similar to the McGregor-Nurmagomedov fight, it seems that there is some bad blood between ‘do Bronx’ and his opponent. Following the second face-off between Oliveira and Makhachev, the Brazilian was videotaped backstage saying that he will “kill” his opponent.

“I will kill this guy.”

Charles Oliveira’s submission skills and the dominant sambo-wrestling background of Islam Makhachev together make this title fight one of the most competitive in recent memory. A winner is difficult to predict, but fireworks are promised when two of the best lightweights in the world battle it out in Abu Dhabi.

Charles Oliveira believes he will finish Islam Makhachev in the first round

Charles Oliveira believes that he will have an early night on Saturday against Islam Makhachev. ‘Do Bronx’ is currently on an 11-fight winning streak, with 10 of those victories coming via finishes. The Brazilian is confident that after Saturday night, he will have added another win to the streak and another finish to the list.

Oliveira was interviewed by Brett Okamoto of ESPN MMA, and the journalist asked the Brazilian for his prediction of UFC 280’s main event. ‘Do Bronx’ said:

“A knockout in the first round. I said that when I actually signed the contract, I’m going to show that I’m the best of the best. I’m going to knock out Islam Makhachev in the first round.”

Charles Oliveira will be entering enemy territory when he steps into the octagon against Islam Makhachev. But just as ‘do Bronx’ knocked Justin Gaethje out in front of his home fans in Arizona, he will hope to silence the crown with a finish over the Dagestani.

Makhachev has been knocked out before, but is currently riding a 10-fight winning streak of his own and is full of confidence ahead of the bout. It will be a tightly contested affair between the two highly skilled combatants.
