Check out how Alexander Volkanovski praises Arnold Allen after UFC Fight Night win, wishes Calvin Kattar a speedy recovery

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has shared his thoughts on the main event of UFC Fight Night 213.

Volkanovski uploaded a tweet wherein he praised Arnold Allen for his performance as well as his behavior after the fight. ‘The Great’ also wished Calvin Kattar a “speedy recovery” from a knee injury he received against Allen:

“Arnold Allen was looking great, Not the ending he wanted but was all class about it. Wishing Calvin Kattar speedy recovery. #UFCVegas63”

Allen and Kattar went toe-to-toe in a featherweight scrap in the main event of UFC Fight Night 213. On paper, the bout was expected to be an exciting matchup, but Kattar suffered a knee injury in the opening round of the fight.

‘The Boston Finisher’ managed to survive the round but a leg kick from Allen in the second round rendered him unable to compete. The fight was thus halted and ‘Almighty’ was declared the winner by TKO.

Arnold is now on a 10-fight win streak in the UFC. In his post-fight interview with Michael Bisping, ‘Almighty’ called out the featherweight king:

“Volkanovski asked the guys to make a statement and it’s another injury, TKO by injury. I can’t really ask for a title shot off this. Maybe give me the interim job… If Volkanovski’s gonna be out for a while, you know, going up in weight, give me the interim shot, you know? I feel like I deserve it… Okay, give me the title shot. Come on, ‘Volk’.”

Arnold Allen’s leg kick leaves Calvin Kattar writhing in pain at UFC Fight Night

The recently concluded UFC Fight Night headliner between Calvin Kattar and Arnold Allen ended in anticlimactic fashion. Kattar suffered a fight-ending knee injury in the second round.

Kattar injured his right knee late in the first round when he landed awkwardly after missing a leaping kick. In round two, Kattar immediately realized he could not plant his back leg after absorbing a low kick from Allen. He came crashing onto the canvas: it was evident that something was amiss.

Referee Herb Dean promptly rushed to his aid, stopping the fight just eight seconds into round two.

‘The Boston Finisher’ was noticeably in pain as he held onto his right leg and could not get to his feet.

Dr. David Abbasi, an orthopedic sports surgeon and UFC fan, took to Twitter to render his initial assessment of the injury. According to Abbasi, Kattar’s reaction suggested that he may have suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear.
