The former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor was eager to share his thoughts on the upcoming heavyweight showdown between the two boxing stars next week
The former undisputed heavyweight world champion will make a stunning return to the ring on November 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Texas in front of up to 80,000 fans against the social media star. Both Tyson and Paul were due to face off back in July, however, ‘Iron Mike’ was forced to withdraw from the bout after suffering an ulcer flare up on a flight.
Since the dust-up was rebooked, many have been quick to share their thoughts, with many slamming the decision to go ahead with the fight due to the large age difference between the two opponents. Concerns were also raised after Tyson recently admitted he was struggling to walk after training.
Tyson hasn’t fought a professional contest since suffering a defeat to Kevin McBride back in 2005. While he did compete in an exhibition showdown with Roy Jones Jr four years ago, many believe ring rust will play a factor in the upcoming fight against Paul. As for ‘The Problem Child’, the young American comes into the clash off the back of a win against Mike Perry back in July.
One individual offered their verdict on the upcoming heavyweight showdown is Conor McGregor. The Irishman bluntly revealed he doesn’t give a “b******s” about the fight. The 36-year-old recently hosted a livestream with Duelbits – an online sports betting company – and was quick to hit out at the contest.
Mike Tyson, this is your stock. I don’t give a b*****s”, he said. “They’re wearing 14oz gloves and it’s two-minute rounds. Who gives a b******s?” The fight is scheduled to take place at the AT&T Stadium – home of NFL franchise Dallas Cowboys – an arena that seats over 80,000 people, the MMA legend questioned how the fight is taking place there. The former two-time UFC champion added: “I hope Mike rattles the little dope, no one gives a f*** about him. How is that even in the f***ing Dallas stadium?”
The Irishman concluded: “You had a little health scare, I don’t know what happened to you on the plane but you look great now mate, you look great now for real so off you go, you love to see it,” he said during the livestream.
Conor McGregor hasn’t fought since losing to Dustin Poirier back in 2021. He was expected to fight Michael Chandler on his return to the UFC, but pulled out of his UFC 303 clash due to an injury. ‘The Notorious’ still hopes to settle his beef with the American, but UFC boss Dana White has insisted no decision has been made about his next opponent. “I’d like it to be Chandler,” McGregor said about his UFC comeback ahead of Anthony Joshua ’s loss to Daniel Dubois in September. “I’d like that to be squared away. I wish him well against Oliveira, but let’s see how it goes”.
White always anticipated that the 36-year-old would return next year. When asked if Conor McGregor will fight again, he replied: “Yes. I wasn’t 100 per cent in 2024, but I am in 2025. I just am. I know more than you guys know. I’m 100 per cent confident McGregor will fight next year”.
