Conor McGregor has responded to Justin Gaethje's latest comments about Title Shot

Conor McGregor has responded to Justin Gaethje’s latest comments about him.

Former UFC two-weight champion Conor McGregor has issued a heated response to some of Justin Gaethje’s recent remarks.

McGregor will face Michael Chandler in his Octagon return later this year. A formal venue, date, and event haven’t been booked for the McGregor vs. Chandler fight after their time coaching against each other on The Ultimate Fighter.

McGregor and Gaethje have teased a fight for years, stemming from McGregor’s short stint as the UFC lightweight champion. During McGregor’s recent losing skid, Gaethje hasn’t wasted any opportunities to poke fun at him.

Ahead of his fighting return, McGregor has called for a welterweight title shot with a win over Chandler. If that happens, Gaethje exclaimed in a recent interview that he would “probably” retire if McGregor received a quick path to the belt.

Conor McGregor Bashes “Bird Brain” Justin Gaethje

In a since-deleted tweet, McGregor responded to Gaethje’s comments.

“This braindead fool got a title shot off of one single win and it was vs chandler,” McGregor tweeted. “Yet he will quit and retire if I get the same thing. Classic gathje bird brain. #Jackass Two Title attempt. No wins.”

Gaethje recently got back in the win column over Rafael Fiziev at UFC 286. After a loss to Charles Oliveira for the vacant lightweight title, he’s back in the thick of things at 155lbs.

Depending on how the upcoming Oliveira vs. Beneil Dariush fight plays out, Gaethje could be in line for another title shot.

Gaethje isn’t the only fighter who McGregor has attacked in recent days. He unleashed on Dariush in a Twitter tirade after Dariush accused him of cheating and using performance-enhancing drugs.

Things between McGregor and Gaethje might never be amiable, and a fight between them seems on the table as tensions sizzle.
