Conor McGregor has no interest in wagering his entire fight purse against Michael Chandler

Conor McGregor makes his return to the cage this summer but UFC legend Chael Sonnen isn’t confident the Irishman stands any chance of beating Michael Chandler.

Conor McGregor has been told he doesn’t stand a chance of beating Michael Chandler in his UFC comeback fight.

McGregor will step foot in the octagon for the first time in almost three years when he faces Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29 in Las Vegas. The former two-weight world champion broke his leg against Dustin Poirier in their trilogy fight and is without a win since KO’ing Donald Cerrone in 40-seconds four years ago.

Chandler has been waiting patiently for his shot at Conor McGregor since being tapped out by Poirier 18-months ago. UFC legend Chael Sonnen has backed the American to beat Conor McGregor because of the difference in discipline between them. “Michael Chandler is going to win,” Sonnen told Bloody Elbow.

“You have the most disciplined guy in the sport…. arguably. You have the most undisciplined guy in the sport… for sure. It’s one of those situations where… when you do this conversation everyone’s going to be lazy like I’m going to be right now and say ‘Conor’s got a puncher’s chance and if Chandler stands up with him…’

“I don’t know where they get this idea, a puncher’s chance. I know it’s something fun people say. There’s no such thing as a puncher’s chance, the better guy wins and he wins every single time. Michael Chandler can go out there and box with him at this point, you don’t get better at something by not doing it.”

Conor McGregor again shoves Michael Chandler in the face amid coaching criticism on this week’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter

Conor McGregor is seeking his the 20th KO win of his career against Chandler, who thinks he is a bigger puncher than the former two-weight world champion. “I am the better fighter, I am the tougher fighter and I’m the guy who deserves it more. I don’t need to be getting into a firefight with a guy who has got a bigger rifle than me. I think I hit harder than he does,” Chandler told Shawn Ryan.

The Irishman is just under six weeks away from his fight date and he raised eyebrows by posting a video of himself hugging a tree last week.

“Little walk through the park to the gym, a bit of grounding. Walk, tree hug. Look at these trees… I’ve been hugging the trees lately, it’s a nice little feeling yeah,” Conor McGregor said in the video.
