Dana White is excited for the UFC to have an event at The Sphere in Las Vegas in September.
White revealed he wanted to host an event at The Sphere ever since it opened and has it booked to host the Mexican Independence Day card in September. It will be a highly-anticipated event and White says seeing U2 there made him want to do an event at The Sphere.
However, Dana White says U2 isn’t even using all the capabilities of The Sphere which he and the UFC will do, so he vows to make it the greatest live sporting event anybody has ever seen.
“I went and saw the U2 show and they are using this much (has his finger nearly touching) of the capabilities, I’m going to use this much (has his arms stretched out as wide as possible),” Dana White said on The Pat McAfee show. “I’m gonna put on the greatest live sporting event anybody has ever seen. What happened was after they did the show, people started looking at it like, ‘Oh, this is cool for concerts, but you can’t do live events here.’ I love hearing that…
“We are going in there on Mexican Independence Day and I’m going to put on the greatest live event anybody has ever seen. It’s going to be this huge love letter to all of combat and combat sports throughout the history of Mexico,” White later added. “Some of the baddest dudes that have ever walked the face of this Earth have been Mexican. On Mexican Independence Day I’m going to deliver the craziest show anybody has ever seen.”
According to Dana White, he says no one has utilized The Sphere to the full potential which he is excited to do.
“You are sitting here and watching the show, you are watching the show in English, he’s sitting in that seat and can watch it in Spanish, French. The speakers are aimed directly at the seats, there are so many things that you can do,” White added.
With Dana White expecting to utilize The Sphere like no one else has, he expects no other live event will ever want to go there again.
“What we are gonna pull off there, it will never be done again. Nobody is going to be willing to spend the money that I’m spending,” White concluded. “I’m not playing around with this, I’m going in here guns blazing and I’m going to blow everybody’s mind with this.”
