Daniel Cormier sheds light on the fierce rivalry between his friend Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor

Daniel Cormier recently weighed in on Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s intense rivalry and offered his take on whether or not they could ever come to any sort of resolution.

McGregor and Nurmagomedov’s rivalry dates back to 2018. At the time, ‘The Eagle’ was the UFC lightweight champion.

After stating his intention to return to the cage, Conor McGregor immediately turned his attention to Nurmagomedov as he looked to build their eventual bout. After months of trading jibes in interviews and on social media, things came to a head when ‘The Notorious’ stormed the Barclays Center in New York with his entourage and attacked a UFC bus that Nurmagomedov was sitting on.

Conor McGregor then faced criminal charges for his actions, but his bout with Khabib Nurmagomedov was locked in and the pair attempted to settle their beef at UFC 229.

What followed next was one of the most infamous pay-per-views in the promotion’s history. After the Russian submitted Conor McGregor in the fourth round, a mass brawl broke out between the two camps, leading to multiple suspensions.

Cormier recently weighed in on the beef between the two MMA stars and offered his take on whether they could ever bury the hatchet. According to ‘DC’, who was speaking on his YouTube channel, their hared for one another may be too deep rooted to ever have a resolution:

“No. They are not letting it go [their rivalry]. It’s deep rooted. They don’t like each other. It’s deep. It’s very deep. I think the closest thing you could get to resolution in that is Conor beating Mike [Chandler] and earning a championship fight against Islam Makhachev.”
