Darren Till’s knee injury woes may not have ended just yet. ‘The Gorilla’ believes he may have tore his ACL during his UFC 282 clash against Dricus du Plessis.
Till’s return to the octagon was foiled by du Plessis, who dominated the Liverpudlian on the mat en route to a third-round submission.
As ‘The Gorilla’ was making the walk back from the octagon, he was called back by Bruce Buffer, who wanted to know about his well-being on behalf of the broadcast team. Buffer asked Till:
“You okay?”
Darren Till replied:
“I think I tore my ACL”
Buffer then asked Till whether he wanted the broadcast team to know of his injury. ‘The Gorilla’ replied:
“No. I don’t know”
Watch the interaction below:
Darren Till was close to being finished in the opening frame after being taken to the mat early by the surging South African. But ‘The Gorilla’ bounced back strongly in round 2, with many believing that the could have gone either way from there. However, ‘Stillknocks’ regained is momentum in the third round, dragging Till back to the ground to secure the finish.
It must be noted that the commentary team noticed Till wincing in pain for a moment when du Plessis was attempting a heel hook submission.
Till tore his MCL in a unanimous decision loss against Robert Whittaker back in 2020. The Liverpudlian has since had multiple issues with his knee, even leading to him being forced out of fights.
