Former UFC flyweight champion American Demetrious Johnson has repeatedly expressed his desire to move up to the bantamweight division. According to the fighter, if he did it now, the most difficult test for him would be the Russian Petr Yan.
“Probably Petr Yan.” Johnson told MMA Island (via Middle Easy). “His hands are f*cking good.”
“He’s very –- not taking anything away from Adriano Moraes, he’s still dangerous — but Petr Yan has a very unique style of fighting. He comes forward, he throws great combinations very fast. He seems like he has a good takedown defense and he has power. So that’s always dangerous.”
A Johnson vs. Yan would have also been a great fight to witness. As a reminder, Demetrious Johnson will have a fight today against the ONE Championship flyweight champion Brazilian Adriano Moraes. The fight will be the main event of the ONE on TNT 1 tournament at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.
