Dave Moretti is an American boxing judge who has been scoring fights since 1977. With tons of experience in the game, Moretti has judged over 90 world title fights during his time. However, the Las Vegas native has recently come to the scrutiny of boxing fans around the world for his judging during the Devin Haney vs. Vasiliy Lomachenko fight.
Devin Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko locked horns last night at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The highly anticipated undisputed lightweight championship bout proved to be much closer than everyone expected and despite Lomachenko going into the fight as the underdog, he looked like the better fighter.
In a result that shocked the majority of the boxing world, Devin Haney retained his undisputed lightweight championship via unanimous decision (115-113, 115-113, 116-112). However, it’s not the overall scorecards that have been mocked by boxing fans the most.
Dave Moretti, who was one of the judges for the fight scored the 10th round in favor of Devin Haney despite the round being dominated by Vasiliy Lomachenko from start to finish. Moreover, it was also one of the most dominant rounds by either of the two during the whole fight.
