Diana Belbita reported an injury after the brutal defeat of Molly McCann with an armbar at UFC Vegas 85

Though it appears that Diana Belbiță did not escape unscathed from her defeat to Molly McCann this past weekend, the damage could have been a lot worse.

“Meatball” had one of the highlight finishes on Saturday’s UFC Vegas 85 card when she and Belbita met in the featured preliminary bout. McCann scored the win with just one second remaining in the opening round, earning a submission with a nasty-looking armbar.

The hold was a grisly one, with McCann twisting and bending Diana Belbita’s left arm back, causing an audible scream to be heard as the Romanian-Canadian tapped out. The defeated 27-year-old was assisted by medical personnel on standby after the finish.

Diana Belbita Avoids Break, Feels She Tore Ligament in UFC Vegas 85 Loss

According to Sportsnet’s Aaron Bronsteter, a CT scan on Belbita’s arm thankfully cleared her of a break.

“The Warrior Princess” replied to Bronsteter, revealing that while she did avoid a broken arm, she is awaiting further testing to discover the true damage from the fight. Diana Belbita feels she may have torn a ligament in her arm as a result of the submission.

Diana Belbita has now lost back-to-back fights, with losses in three of her last four. She is 2-5 since entering the Octagon for the first time in October 2019. That debut came against McCann as well, a fight that the Romanian-Canadian lost via decision.
