American fighter Dustin Poirier plans to say goodbye to his fans this summer at a numbered UFC event in New Orleans.
The former interim UFC lightweight champion shared his plans in an interview with Dave Schmulenson.
“I wish I could tell you more, but for now, I can only say that I’m in touch with the UFC every week, and it looks like my farewell fight will take place this summer in New Orleans,” said “The Diamond.” “A summer numbered show in New Orleans will be incredible—that’s what we’re working on right now, and we’re getting close.”
In June of last year, Dustin Poirier attempted to take the UFC lightweight championship belt from Islam Makhachev but lost to the Russian via a fifth-round submission. Currently, the American remains ranked fourth in the division.
The official UFC calendar does not yet list a numbered event scheduled for this summer in the largest city of Louisiana.
