Ex-Arsenal star Paul Merson predicts the result as Arsenal play Everton on February 4

Ex-Arsenal star Paul Merson is backing his former club to secure a straightforward victory against relegation-threatened Everton on Saturday afternoon.

The Toffees have recently appointed Sean Dyche as manager but they didn’t strengthen during the January transfer window, and Merson says the Gunners will be heavy favourites to win:

“Arsenal need to turn up in the right frame of mind for this Premier League game. As long as their attitude is right, there’s only one winner in this match.”

Merson has gone with a 3-0 victory for Mikel Arteta’s side, which seems like a very fair prediction when you look at the form of the two teams.

Arsenal have an outstanding away record this season, having dropped just five points on the road. In contrast, Everton have won just two of their ten games at Goodison Park, with their home form the second worst in the entire Premier League.

Having a new manager in charge could complicate things slightly, and it may be a tightly contested affair early on, but you’d back the Gunners to eventually come out comfortable winners this weekend.
