After all the disputes and disagreements between the teams of UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili from Georgia and Umar Nurmagomedov from Dagestan, they were finally able to reach an agreement.
Dvalishvili won the title in September 2024 by defeating American Sean O’Malley at UFC 306. Umar, who has never tasted defeat, has only one truly significant victory in his record.
In August 2024, Nurmagomedov faced American Cory Sandhagen, whom he defeated by unanimous decision.
UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili expressed confidence in his victory in the upcoming fight against Umar Nurmagomedov:

It will be an excellent matchup. I’m not expecting an easy fight from Umar because I’ve always respected him as a fighter. I know he’s a very good fighter. I’m fired up for a fight with a guy like Umar. He’s undefeated, and I’ll change his record,” said Dvalishvili.
