Islam Makhachev said Khabib Nurmagomedov is ‘much better’ in one key aspect ahead of UFC 302

The number one P4P fighter, Islam Makhachev is one of the best fighters in UFC and the most powerful ranked fighter with an amazing record. Makhachev is keeping the legacy alive and continuing to set records while also being assisted by Khabib Nurmagomedov. The duo see each other as brothers, even though they are not related by blood or family ties. The two genius fighters grew up together in the rugged lands of Dagestan and were neighbors from a very young age.

Makhachev learned perseverance and hard work from his parents, but not much is known about them. His first seed of knowledge about hard work was through helping his father carry heavy boxes of vegetables, as his father was a tomato farmer. Makhachev’s mother was a powerful woman who looked after her family and ran a cafe to support the family.

Interestingly, the fighter once revealed that his mother does not like his fighting career because she is concerned for his safety. On the other hand, his father supports him and watches all his fights. He also has a brother named Kurbanismail Makhachev. Both Khabib and Makhachev knew each other before they entered UFC and practically grew up together in Dagestan.

The duo were trained by Khabib’s late father and were always a team throughout their martial arts career. While the two are not related by blood, Khabib’s father still considers him a son and treats him exactly like that. ‘The Eagle’ might have retired, but he still trains the fighters in the Dagestan camp and was even on Makhachev’s side while he fought against Dustin Poirier at UFC 302.

Now Khabib Nurmagomedov is gearing up for his brother Umar Nurmagomedov’s fight against Cory Sandhagen.
