Conor McGregor gives one-word reaction to former foe Jose Aldo getting inducted into UFC Hall of Fame.
The Irishman posted just a one-word tweet to share his thoughts on the Brazilian receiving the honor.
Jose Aldo was inducted into the Hall of Fame during UFC 283, which took place in ‘Junior’s home country of Brazil.
Aldo had a long and glorious career in the UFC. During his prime, the Brazilian ruled over the UFC’s featherweight division. Aldo successfully defended his UFC championship seven times to build his case for the best featherweight in the promotion.
During his run in the 145-pound shark tank, ‘Junior’ scored victories over highly skilled fighters like Chan Sung Jung, Frankie Edgar, Chad Mendes, Ricardo Lamas, Jeremy Stephens, and Renato Moicano.
Aldo later moved down to the 135-pound division to capture the bantamweight title. After losing his first two bantamweight fights against Marlon Moraes and Petr Yan, the Brazilian turned things around and went on a three-fight win streak. This included victories over Marlon Vera, Pedro Munhoz, and Rob Font.
In his last UFC fight, ‘Junior’ took on Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 278. The Brazilian came up short in that fight and lost the contest via unanimous decision.
What happened when Conor McGregor fought Jose Aldo?
After running through the featherweight division in the UFC, Conor McGregor was matched up against Jose Aldo for the title at UFC 189. Unfortunately, ‘King of Rio’ had to pull out of the fight and Chad Mendes stepped in as a last-minute replacement.
McGregor defeated Mendes via second-round TKO to become the interim champion. A fight for the undisputed title was then set up for UFC 194 between the Irishman and Aldo.
On fight night, McGregor made history as he knocked Aldo out in just 13 seconds of the first round and became the new featherweight king.
During his appearance at the UFC 283 post-fight press conference, Aldo spoke about his rivalry with ‘The Notorious’ and said the two have now become friends.
“I do have a lot of respect for him. We’re friends. We follow each other on Instagram. We exchange dialogue there. Sometimes. some fans come up to me and say. ‘You feel like, you know, beating McGregor or something?’ I say, ‘How can I do that? That’s the guy who gave me the most money.”
