The last UFC pay-per-view event of 2024 is a heavily stacked card, according to Israel Adesanya. The former middleweight champion recently expressed his thoughts on the Shavkat Rakhmonov vs. Ian Machado Garry matchup at UFC 310. In addition, Adesanya shared his prediction for the welterweight contest.
Rakhmonov will face Garry in the co-main event of UFC 310 in a title eliminator bout. It will take place this weekend at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Kazakh was previously scheduled to challenge the reigning champion Belal Muhammad for the welterweight title, however, a bone infection in his left foot forced Muhammad to withdraw from the contest.
In a recent video uploaded on his YouTube channel, Israel Adesanya broke down the Rakhmonov vs. Garry contest, saying:
”I’ve grappled with him [Garry], he’s good grappler…his striking as well, his distance, his awareness, his in and out footwork, that’s where he’s going to have an advantage…I think he’s going to be able to touch Shavkat [Rakhmonov]…he’s going to be careful, use that jab, use the teep to keep Shavkat away and Shavkat, I think he just don’t bite on the fence. If he wants to try and go after Ian. I think Ian’s going to have the advantage striking.”
Adesanya then backed Garry to prevail, saying:
‘I’ll go with Ian Garry. I think it’s gonna go decision…I’m going put my money on Ian…there was something he [Garry] was saying…at a press conference or something talking about…talking about like, ‘I want to be the guy to take that 0 away’. That’s the energy, that’s that Goku Spirit. Only a few people have.”
Both Rakhmonov and Garry are unbeaten going into the match and will try to hand each other their first professional loss.
