Jorge Masvidal reacts to scorecard after losing a decision to Nate Diaz

Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz squared off in the boxing ring on June 6 in a rematch of their UFC 244 clash. After a competitive 10-round fight, the result went to the judges’ scorecards, with Diaz being awarded a majority decision.

The scorecards read 98-92,97-93 and 95-95 in favor of the Stockton native. But with Masvidal having outstruck his opponent in every category except for ‘jabs landed’, the former BMF title holder was not pleased with the decision.

It was the Miami native’s first professional boxing match since 2005, and following his first defeat in the sport, he appeared in front of the media. ‘Gamebred’ reflected on the result, noting his confusion at the scorecards, saying this:

“From what I saw I definitely hurt him more than he hurt me. I got way cleaner shots, especially to the body, he never even did anything to my body. I definitely hurt his body. A couple times I hurt him, he backed up. He put a lot of pressure [on me] coming forward, but he never hurt me. I don’t think he landed any meaningful punches. But eight rounds to two [rounds] is f**king nuts. But whatever, it’s California.”
