Her name is Patimat, a widely used Dagestani form of the Muslim female name Fatima. In its affectionate diminutive form, it’s simply Patya.
As Khabib Nurmagomedov himself admitted, he met his future wife, a mountain woman, while he was still at school. They sat together at the same desk in their native village of Sildi, where Patimat was known as the first beauty. Dark hair like raven’s wing, black eyebrows, deep brown eyes, meek character, deep faith in Islam….. However, Khabib dared to ask Patya for a marriage only in 2013, having achieved his first serious success in the fighting field.
Patimat’s parents and she herself did not refuse Khabib, the first Dagestani in the prestigious UFC fighting league. The young couple had a noisy wedding in Makhachkala – only the guests invited were more than a thousand people! Moreover, Khabib Nurmagomedov doesn’t particularly want his fame to extend to his family. Among other reasons, fame brings all sorts of bad rumors and insults on social media, which Nurmagomedov definitely intends to avoid when it comes to his dearly beloved wife. That’s why there’s only one photo in the public domain where you can catch a glimpse of the face of the esteemed Caucasian fighter’s better half.
Interestingly, when heading off to fights or even just training abroad, Khabib always leaves his wife at home. This is so she doesn’t worry about her husband and allows him to focus calmly on his sports endeavors.
“I believe that the family should stay at home,” the fighter explained. “So they don’t worry and don’t interfere with the preparation. A wife should be at home, not traveling all over the world.”
And today the happy couple living in Makhachkala already have three children – a beautiful daughter and two dzhigit sons.
