Khamzat Chimaev has no respect for Devin Haney after racist comment

Khamzat Chimaev is one of the rising stars of UFC with a solid record of 12 wins and 0 losses. The Swedish fighter, who will now be representing the UAE is all set to make his comeback at UFC 294 this month. He’s scheduled to return to the middleweight division against Paulo Costa (UFC Record- 14-2-0). Recently, surprising information related to Khamzat’s relationship with professional boxer Devin Haney has gone viral.

As per the news, the 29-year-old undefeated UFC star has distanced himself from Haney. An anonymous social media account on ‘X’ brought to light the fact that ‘Borz’ Khamzat Chimaev has unfollowed Devin Haney.

According to the Ringside24, this unusual act from Khamzat Chimaev, who stands tall at 6ft 2in, was a response to the remarks made by Devin Haney in an interview. The boxing legend Haney, who has never faced defeat in his career, had stated in an interview that he cannot afford to lose to a white fighter.

The three-time National Swedish Champion in wrestling showed his discontent and claimed that he found Haney’s comments racist and divisive. He further shared his perspective asserting, “We communicated with Haney, but I unfollowed him on Instagram. He’s too arrogant. He said, ‘It’s unforgivable for me to lose to a white guy.’ It was racist.”

Khamzat Chimaev, 179 lb, believes a sportsman should never care about such stuff. Moreover, one should be ready to fight with anyone, no matter which color they have. The 29-year-old fighter also highlighted the double standards that exist when it comes to racial comments.

He added, “If I say that I will lose to a black man, the whole world will say that Khamzat does not like blacks. Black or white – what’s the difference? We are all the same. When a black person talks about it, it’s no big deal, but if I talk about it, the whole world will talk about it. I have both black and white friends, it doesn’t matter to me.” As per Borz’s words, it’s clear that he supports unity and equality.

Here’s when Devin Haney made racist comments

Devin Haney, who stands tall at 5ft 8in, is among the top boxers who are known for their fighting skills. However, he has a not-so-open thinking. It was back in 2020 when Haney spoke on 78SPORTSTV’s YouTube channel.

The 24-year-old boxer’s words sparked controversy as he boldly stated “I can tell you this — I will never lose to a white boy in my life. I don’t care what nobody got to say. Listen, can’t no white boy beat me, I don’t care, on any day of the week. I fight a white boy like 10 times, I’m gonna beat him 10 times.”

His words stirred debate all over the sports community. As per Haney, he cannot lose in front of any White fighter as it would be like an insult to him. After his comments, he received hatred from many famous personalities.

However, later on, he apologized for his comments through his social media platform. He expressed he didn’t mean to make any racist comments. It was quite shocking for fans as no one expected such words from Devin Haney
