This Thursday, the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, addressed the media and the club’s supporters at the renewal ceremony of Alejandro Balde. The 19-year-old left-back extended his contract with Barcelona until 2028, consolidating his commitment to the club that has been his home since an early age.
At this event, Laporta not only celebrated the renewal of Balde, but also had words of gratitude and admiration for the player, his family and those who have contributed to his development. The president stressed the values that the Spanish international embodies and that are essential for the club.
“Thank you to all his team of advisors and especially to him who has been here for many years. Alejandro has Barcelona in his blood. It is a day that makes history at Barcelona, it is presumed and confirmed that a boy trained at home reaches the first team despite the obstacles that the road represents. He comes because he has a wonderful environment. The figure of his parents has been fundamental. They have given you those values of solidarity, humility, work… Thank you very much for everything you have taught Alejandro that has made it possible for all this to have happened,” Laporta said.
In his speech, Laporta congratulated José Ramón Alexanco, director of grassroots football, and Deco, director of the football area, for their role in the development of Balde. He highlighted the formative work and innovation that has propelled the young player towards the first team.
“Congratulations to Alexanco who is doing a wonderful training job. Also the work that Deco has done, we were all waiting for you to renew and in the end it has been achieved. Thanks also to a person who looks out for your interests, Jorge Mendes, who takes everything into account and knows how to combine the interests of both parties, defending your own and sometimes making sacrifices,” the leader said.
Laporta sees light in the economic situation of the club
The president also took the opportunity to praise the effort made by the club Barcelona in the transfer market. In addition, he expressed his confidence that the sporting results will contribute to the economic recovery of the club ahead of schedule.
“I want to highlight the great work that was done last summer. I think we all think we have a very good squad. I want to praise the whole team that has put together a great team. We have made great efforts from the board of directors in order to get this staff and I am convinced that the work will have been worthwhile. The club will be recovered earlier than planned in the economic plan and with this team everything will help and accelerate,” he said.
