The post and subsequent rumors surrounding McGregor’s return to TUF seem to have caught Michael Chandler’s attention. The American took to Twitter to post a message reacting to the Irishman’s Instagram post and possibly hinted at being interested in coaching against Conor McGregor. ‘Iron’ wrote:

“Conor coaching TUF?”

With McGregor’s highly rumored return due this year, Chandler is the front-runner to be his next opponent in the octagon, thanks to his vocal callouts and explosive fighting style.

Michael Chandler has established himself as a fan favourite since making his promotional debut in January 2021 and his performances in the octagon rarely fail to entertain. Paired with his ability to speak well on the mic, he might just be the perfect opponent against Conor McGregor for the new TUF season.

Coach John Kavanagh confident about Conor McGregor returning to action this year

SBG Ireland head-coach Ireland John Kavanagh recently expressed confidence about Conor McGregor making his long-awaited return to the octagon this year after recovering from a nasty leg injury.

Conor McGregor was forced to the sidelines after suffering a leg fracture during his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. The former two-division champion underwent extensive physical therapy and rehabilitation over almost two years. However, it seems McGregor is ready to make a comeback this year.

In an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Kavanagh spoke about just how confident he feels about the Irishman’s return and possible opponents. He said:

“I’d be willing to bet my house on it… I’m very, very confident we will see Conor back in the octagon this year…”

Kavanagh further explained the criteria that McGregor’s next opponent must fulfil and noted that there are plenty of options to choose from in the UFC.

That would be absolutely the most important thing for me… A name that’s going to excite him… You’ve got the great Nate Diaz is obviously in there. Justin Gaethje I think would be an interesting matchup, someone he hasn’t fought before… Michael Chandler, a great fighter, great athlete.”
