UFC bantamweight Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera calls out former champion Petr Yan.
Despite many advocating for the No.4-ranked bantamweight to receive the next title shot, he has instead set his eyes on the former champion. In a post to his Twitter account, Vera stated:

While Yan is yet to respond, he previously claimed that Vera had turned down an opportunity to fight him. During an appearance on The MMA Hour leading up to his UFC 280 bout against Sean O’Malley, the No.3-ranked bantamweight stated:
“There were talks about me fighting Chito Vera. I accepted the fight…I wanted to fight him in September, but he wanted to fight in August and he couldn’t wait a few weeks to fight me so it means he didn’t put his actions where his words were at. If he really wanted to fight me he would’ve waited for me because I’m the number one contender in the world.”
Vera is currently riding a four-fight win streak, in which he has earned Fight of the Night or Performance of the Night honors in each fight. Yan is on a two-fight losing streak, however, both split decision losses came with plenty of controversy.

Daniel Cormier shares that Petr Yan may be looking to leave the UFC
Petr Yan’s split decision loss to Sean O’Malley at UFC 280 was quite controversial. Most felt that Yan did enough to win the fight. However, for the second consecutive fight, he lost via split decision. UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier revealed that the No.3-ranked bantamweight may be looking to leave the promotion.
Speaking on DC & RC, the former double champ and current mixed martial arts analyst stated:
“Petr Yan is so disappointed in this decision. Petr Yan is so disappointed in the decision against Aljo that I’m hearing word that this guy may want to look at something different down the line in terms of his career because he just does not feel like maybe the organization doesn’t have his back. It’s crazy.”
The controversial decision was met with backlash from both fans and fellow fighters. Yan shared his thoughts on the decision with a simple, yet straightforward, three-worded tweet.
While he is yet to confirm or deny Cormier’s claims, it is unlikely that the No.3-ranked bantamweight will be leaving the promotion anytime soon. Despite his frustrations with the promotion, Yan reportedly has four fights left on his current UFC contract.
