Michael Bisping fumes at ‘d***head’ fan for ‘disrespectful’ Alexander Volkanovski question ahead of UFC 304
The duo were speaking ahead of UFC 304 this weekend as the MMA promotion returns to the UK with a blockbuster card.
Leon Edwards faces Belal Muhammad in the main event for the UFC Welterweight Championship, with Tom Aspinall and Curtis Blaydes’ UFC interim Heavyweight Championship clash the co-main event.
Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann will also feature on the night against Bobby Green and Bruna Brasil respectively.
Before all the fighters weighed in on Friday, fans had the opportunity to ask Bisping and Volkanovski some questions at a Q&A event.
However, one fan in particular did little to impress them when they referred to one of the latter’s defeats.
“How did that head kick feel from Islam Makhachev?” they asked in reference to Volkanovski’s first round defeat at UFC 294.
‘The Great’ was still able to show a smile before sarcastically replying: “It felt real good.”
“Wait, wait, wait… what head kick? I don’t remember a thing, what happened?” he jokingly added before Bisping responded.
“What a d***head,” Bisping said regarding the fan, with Volkanovski then saying: “What happened? I got head-kicked?”
Volkanovski fell to defeat against Makhachev after just three minutes and six seconds to lose out on the UFC lightweight title.
He was then knocked out again in February by Ilia Topuria to lose his featherweight belt.
Volkanovski is keen to win back his belt in a rematch in Spain but for now, he will be firmly keeping his eyes on this weekend’s action.
Main event star Edwards will be hoping to beat Muhammad to defend his title and then move up to the middleweight class.
“I want to move up and challenge for a middleweight belt as well so whatever comes first,” he exclusively told talkSPORT.
“I feel like I’ve got the size [for the middleweight division] and the skill for it so why not chase greatness.”
Ahead of his fight with Blaydes, Aspinall also spoke to talkSPORT and said he is keen to face Alex Pereira: “As an elite-level fighter myself, you can’t help but be impressed with what Alex Pereira has done over the last couple of years.
“This time a few years ago nobody knew who he was and now he is one of the biggest stars in MMA, one of the best fighters in UFC history and I really respect what he has done. Does that mean I don’t want to fight him?
“No, I absolutely want to fight him. I’m sure there will be a time and place for it. I’m not jumping ahead of things right now. I’m fighting Curtis Blaydes now and if that’s what the UFC wants to do one day then we will absolutely do it.”
