Michael Bisping explains why a five-round fight against Colby Covington will be a different kettle of fish for Khamzat Chimaev

Michael Bisping has released a new video on his YouTube channel breaking down the possible matchup between Khamzat Chimaev and Colby Covington.

Both Chimaev and Covington are incredible wrestlers, and their styles would make for an intriguing fight.

According to Bisping, the fight favors ‘Borz’ over three rounds but ‘Chaos’ over five. The Brit believes that the relentless pace that Chimaev sets is unsustainable.

‘The Count’ doesn’t think the Chechen-born Swede has the ability to pace himself over a five-round fight:

“He’s [Chimaev] extremely powerful, he has great wrestling, he has great striking, he’s super aggressive and wastes no time. He probably doesn’t pace himself too well… Khamzat can go three rounds. We’ve seen him do that before. But five rounds, that’s a different kettle of fish. If it was [five rounds] I would see Colby having a real advantage.”

Colby Covington and Khamzat Chimaev sit at No.2 and No.3 respectively in the welterweight rankings, and the winner of this fight could face the winner of Leon Edwards vs. Kamaru Usman 3.

Michael Bisping believes that Islam Makhachev would beat Charles Oliveira every time

Islam Makhachev was able to submit Charles Oliveira in the second round at UFC 280 in what was an unexpectedly one-sided fight.

The Dagestani lightweight seemed to be in the zone in Abu Dhabi as he was able to hurt ‘do Bronx’ on the feet before submitting him, something many didn’t anticipate. Oliveira has vowed to come back and win the belt, but his next opponent is unclear.

Michael Bisping, who released a video reflecting on the UFC 280 main event, doesn’t believe Oliveira will ever beat Makhachev in a fight. ‘The Count’ feels that the Dagestani champion’s skills will always nullify the Brazilian’s:

“Even if they fought again another five times, I don’t think we would see anything different… He [Oliveira] couldn’t take him down, couldn’t stop the takedowns, he couldn’t submit him and he couldn’t finish him on the feet. So I don’t know, if we saw that fight again, what Charles Oliveira could do differently.”

That said, Michael Bisping doesn’t believe that the UFC will ever organize another fight between the two, mostly owing to ‘do Bronx’ being tapped out.
