Jorge Masvidal should not wait for Leon Edwards fight right now, says Michael Bisping

Jorge Masvidal should not wait for Leon Edwards fight right now, says Michael Bisping.

In a recent video, ‘The Count’ discussed Masvidal’s next fight. Bisping said that a fight against Gilbert Burns could prove to be exciting.

The former UFC middleweight champion added that Masvidal also has the option of just sitting on the sidelines and waiting for a title fight against Leon Edwards. But due to multiple variables, it would not be ideal for ‘Gamebred’ to wait for ‘Rocky’:

“I would love to see [Jorge Masvidal] and Burns go at it. I love that fight but if he can win his next fight or sidestep that and wait on the sidelines until he fights Leon Edwards… But there are too many ifs and maybes, though. He’s gonna beat the guy, Gilbert. He’s gonna wait for Leon, Leon’s gonna beat Kamaru, there’s so many ifs, buts, and maybes.”

Masvidal is currently on a three-fight losing skid in the UFC. Burns has also lost two out of his last three encounters. So, it would make sense for the UFC to pit the two against each other.

Michael Chandler has called out Jorge Masvidal

In an interesting turn of events, UFC lightweight Michael Chandler has thrown in his name to be the next opponent for Jorge Masvidal.

In a recent interview with Brett Okamoto for ESPN MMA, Chandler said that he has his eyes on the ‘BMF’ belt and would like to challenge ‘Gamebred’ for it:

“I got a couple awards on my mantle right now. I think I’ll add a couple more. Possibly knockout of the year. Possibly fight of the year of 2023, but that BMF belt sure would look good next to ’em… Michael Chandler vs. Jorge Masvidal for the BMF belt.“

During his short tenure in the UFC, Chandler has proven to be one of the most exciting fighters on the roster. Win or lose, ‘Iron’ is sure to provide entertainment to the fans. So, a fight between him and Masvidal could prove to be a huge pay-per-view draw for the UFC.
