Khamzat Chimaev is considered one of the biggest fighters in the welterweight division and he’s rumored to fight at middleweight next. Similarly, middleweight champion Alex Pereira is a significantly bigger fighter in his weight class and does not hold back from calling out some of the toughest fighters in the division.
In a recently uploaded video on his YouTube channel, Michael Bisping spoke about the title picture at 185 lbs and appreciated Pereira’s fearlessness in calling out Chimaev.
He said:
“And that is why I respect Pereira so much. Right, he is willing to fight everybody. He wants Khamzat Chimaev, he’s talking about going up to light heavyweight. He’s talking about fighting everybody. Okay? He’s aiming that bow and arrow at everyone he sees! Literally. Every time I see him on social media that’s what he is doing. Love the guy. Big dude. Knockout power. But can he beat Robert Whittaker?”
Bisping then weighed in on a potential Whittaker vs. Pereira matchup and stressed the importance of style matchups in mixed martial arts fights. He gave the example of both Whittaker’s failure to overcome Israel Adesanya and Adesanya himself falling to beat ‘Poatan’ on three separate occasions.
