Michael Chandler appeared to confirm the new date for his UFC showdown with Conor McGregor.
The pair were due to face in the Octagon on June 29 at UFC 303, but that was cancelled just weeks before. McGregor vs Chandler was supposed to go down in June
McGregor sustained an injury and no timeline was given about when the fight may be rescheduled to.
It later transpired that ‘Notorious’ suffered an injury to his toe. In a social media post, he said:
“It is absolutely gut wrenching. “We had a lapse in concentration and engaged in a training session without wearing the full protective gear and I hit the toe off the elbow and broke the toe clean. It needs a few weeks – that’s it.”
It seems he is right about needing just a few weeks to get himself back in top shape.
Chandler seems to have confirmed they are aiming for September 14 as a date for the fight.
UFC 306 is going to be held on that date at The Sphere in Las Vegas.
A fan wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “Chandler vs. McGregor is going down Sept. 14th.”
Chandler replied: “Loading…”
It has been a long and frustrating wait for both fighters to get back in the Octagon.
McGregor has not fought since a gruesome leg injury he sustained against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.
Chandler’s last fight was also against Poirier in November 2022.
