Michael Page takes the gauntlet with a win in his UFC 299 debut – Highlights and Videos

UFC 299 results, including the welterweight bout between Michael Page and Kevin Holland.

Michael Page (21-2 MMA) will be competing in MMA for the first time since Bellator 292 in March of 2023, where he scored a first-round TKO victory (leg kick) over Goiti Yamauchi. That win was preceded by a split decision loss to Logan Storley which occurred in May of 2022.

Meanwhile, Kevin Holland (25-10 MMA) will be looking to rebound after suffering a split decision loss to Jack Della Maddalena in his most recent effort last September. That setback snapped a two-fight winning streak for ‘Trailblazer’, who had previously scored wins over Michael Chiesa and Santiago Ponzinibbio respectively.

Round one of this welterweight matchup begins and Michael Page comes forward quickly. He lands a left hand and then a low kick. Kevin Holland replies with a low kick of his own. He follows that up with a jab. ‘Venum’ with a nice combination. Holland answers with a low kick. He pushes forward with a combination and forces the clinch. Foot stomps from the UFC veteran. Page shakes Holland off and gets back to range. He lands a right hand over the top and then leaps in with a good left hand. The fighters clinch and ‘MVP’ lands a left hand on the break. A good body kick and then a right hand from Michael Page. That appeared to stun Kevin Holland. ‘Trailblazer’ attempts to force the clinch but can’t do so. Page with a good right hand. Holland answers with a heavy low kick. Back to the clinch and this time it is ‘Venum’ with the front position. The fighters break and Kevin Holland lands a nice right hand. A good uppercut in return from Michael Page. The former Bellator title challenger leaps in with a right. Holland forces the clinch. A good elbow from Holland closes out round one.

Round two begins and Kevin Holland connects with a left hand and then a right over the top. He forces the clinch and begins to land some good knees. Michael Page shakes him off and breaks free. ‘Venum’ standing at range with his hands at his hips. He leaps in with a pair of good right hands. Holland with a big low kick that causes Page to slip. ‘Trailblazer’ rushes in and forces the clinch. He gets a takedown and looks to secure a choke. ‘MVP’ escapes but is now absorbing ground and pound. Kevin Holland working from half guard position with two minutes remaining. Michael Page scrambles and is able to get back up to his feet. He connects with a big right hand almost immediately. That appeared to cut Holland. ‘Trailblazer’ forces the clinch but is quickly shaken off. A big right hand over the top by Page. He lands another and Holland goes down. He let’s Kevin back up and goes to the body with a left hand. Another good right hand from Page. Holland lands a kick to the body. ‘MVP’ with a spinning back elbow. The horn sounds to end round two.

The third and final round of this welterweight matchup begins and Michael Page throws Kevin Holland to the ground after landing a combination. ‘Trailblazer’ looks to close the distance. He forces the clinch and moves to the back of ‘MVP’. Holland working hard for a takedown, but Page is doing a good job of defending so far. ‘Venum’ with a big right hand on the break. He trips Holland back down to the canvas. Page tells Holland to get back up and he does just that. A hard kick to the body and then a right hand by Michael Page. He follows that up with a spinning back elbow that splits Holland open. This has been a great debut for ‘MVP’ thus far. One minute remains. Kevin Holland likely needs a finish. Page tags him with a right hand as he attempts to close the distance.
