People all over the world had their eyes on the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial. UFC commentator Joe Rogan was one of the people who had been closely following the proceedings.
The case reached its verdict last night and many UFC personalities, including Chael Sonnen and Conor McGregor, reacted.
As reported by ‘Rolling Stone‘, Depp prevailed over Amber Heard in their court battles. Per their report, Johnny Depp won all three claims on his civil suit against Heard. In turn, the actress won one of the three claims in her countersuit.
Retired MMA fighter Chael Sonnen reacted to Depp’s win in a true MMA style.
Sonnen’s tweet, which compared Johnny Depp’s situation to winning via unanimous decision in MMA, was shared on an Instagram post featuring Depp with Conor McGregor and fiance Dee Devlin. ‘The Notorious’ liked the post.
Besides the UFC’s first simultaneous dual division champion and ‘The American Gangster’, other UFC fighters also took to Twitter to share their reactions.
UFC fighters shared their take on the Depp-Heard verdict
UFC featherweight fighter Billy Quarantillo tweeted about the three-time Academy Award-nominated actor. His statement made a reference to MMA.
Australian flyweight fighter Casey O’Neill shared a GIF of Captain Jack Sparrow on Twitter.
Like O’Neill, former UFC fighter and title challenger Megan Anderson shared a GIF of Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow.
Outside the MMA sphere, fans and celebrities alike shared their thoughts about Johnny Depp and Amber Heard on social media.
Post the verdict, it would be interesting to see what Rogan has to say. After all, he has discussed the case on his podcast (The Joe Rogan Experience) several times with his guests and even recalled his brief interaction with Depp on the phone years ago.
In the episode #1812, Rogan and his guest, Doug Stanhope, discussed the case.
As Stanhope happens to be one of Depp’s close friends, it is not surprising that both the personalities discussed the raging topic. Back in the day, Stanhope had written an article on Depp and Heard’s relationship. As a result, Rogan got to speak to Depp on the phone.
Discussing the same, Rogan said, “We showed your article that you had written a bunch of years ago about Amber Heard blackmailing Johnny. And I remember you connected me to him on the phone and I talked to him on the phone.”
It looks like he was in Hawaii with his wife while on the call with the famous actor. Rogan explained, “I was drinking margaritas, and I got my wife. I’m holding the phone, ‘I’m on the phone with Johnny Depp’.”
The UFC commentator also confessed he had watched all their trials. Rogan further went that Depp was a ‘nice guy’. Stanhope agreed with him and said that Depp was ‘one of the sweetest people’ he has ever met.
