16 months after a rather lackluster boxing fight at the American Airlines Center in Texas, Jake Paul and Nate Diaz continue to tease that their rivalry is far from over.
‘The Problem Child’ is currently signed to the PFL, whilst Nate Diaz remains a free agent having left the UFC back in 2022 – both stars remain adamant that they’re willing to throwdown in the MMA cage.
Nate Diaz and Jake Paul go back-and-forth on potential rematch in MMA
Last night, Most Valuable Promotions held their 10th ‘Prospects’ event in Orlando, Florida, with Jake Paul joining Amanda Serrano at the post-fight press conference to discuss what’s next in their respective careers.
Whilst both superstar athletes have their sights firmly set on the boxing ring, both Serrano and Paul would state that they are open to fighting in MMA in 2025.
“We want to, but our opponents don’t actually,” stated ‘The Problem Child’, before goading UFC icon Nate Diaz over a potential rematch under the banner of the Professional Fighters League.
“So, it’s funny, Nate Diaz is actually scared to fight me in MMA… The biggest payday of his life would be me and him in MMA… I’m ready.”
Serrano too said she’d be ‘down’ for a venture into the SmartCage, only if the trilogy fight with Katie Taylor fails to materialize: “I’m down for it, I’m undefeated in MMA.
“Listen, I don’t know, and I don’t care, it’s up to my team but I’d be down for it. The team has 2025 in the works and I’m excited to see it.”
Just a few hours later, Nate Diaz would respond to Paul’s suggestion that he’s ‘scared’ to fight him in MMA with a challenge (and a condition) of his own.
“Sign the contract. Scary and not in 12 months from now and in a s**** organization Scary.”
A reminder that Diaz has 34 professional MMA fights to his name, having made his debut all the way back in 2004; simply put, Diaz isn’t scared of anyone, let alone someone competing in his sport for the very first time.
Diaz also rebounded from that boxing defeat to Jake Paul with a solid majority decision win over Jorge Masvidal earlier this year.
