Conor McGregor has sent respect to his former rival and real warrior Nate Diaz

Could you imagine if Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor were ever on the same page about something, especially regarding the UFC? Well, imagine no longer.

McGregor’s most recent appearance in the headlines came when he addressed the long-awaited, ever-delayed comeback bout against Michael Chandler. McGregor told The Mac Life that the longer this fight — which has been anticipated for more than a year now — gets put off, the more he loses interest in competing and the more he starts to hold back on his training.

Now, it appears that one of McGregor’s longtime rivals, Diaz, understands how McGregor feels. And on St. Patrick’s Day, Diaz made a social media post in which he encouraged the UFC to free McGregor from his contract.

“This was me for years before Conor McGregor even got here they want u to die before u get out these contracts it’s up to u to make something pop no one gonna help you but you Free Conor it’s at pattys day in this b*tch”

Diaz has had his fair share of spats with the UFC, including a public request from his UFC contract in 2022 months prior to his final fight with the promotion against Tony Ferguson.

According to some reports, McGregor currently has two fights left on his current UFC deal. During a recent press conference to promote the film Road House, which he stars in, McGregor stated he is looking to get back to training for the Chandler fight following a press tour for the movie.

A bout between McGregor and Chandler has been expected since the two were announced to be coaching the 31st season of The Ultimate Fighter, which took place last summer. Rumored and expected dates for the coaches’ fight, ranging from UFC 292 in Boston to UFC 296 in Las Vegas, came and went.

On New Year’s Eve, Conor McGregor announced that he and Chandler would meet during the 2024 International Fight Week in a middleweight bout. But that has since been shot down by UFC CEO Dana White.

White’s comments then went from an expectation that the two would meet in Fall 2024, to saying he needs to see Conor McGregor in a full fight camp and questioning if the fight would happen at all.
