The Bellator champion in two weight categories, Brazilian Patricio Freire and the contender for his featherweight title, American A. J. McKee, almost got into a fight during the pre-match press conference dedicated to their fight.
The fighters exchanged sharp phrases to each other throughout the event, but the peak of the conflict frowned when A.J. mentioned Freire’s wife and children. After that, Patricio jumped up from his chair and rushed to his future rival. The guards and Bellator president Scott Coker, who were nearby, stood as an obstacle between the fighters.
When the passions seemed to have subsided, McKee grabbed one of the belts belonging to Freire , which gave a new impetus to the conflict. This time, Coker had to work hard, as the opponents were determined to hold a duel ahead of time.
Recall that Freire and McKee will fight on July 31 at The Forum Arena in Inglewood, California, USA in the main event of the Bellator 263 tournament. The fight will be held as part of the featherweight Grand Prix final.
