Premier League starlet would rather play for Eric Ten Hag than Graham Potter

Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia has been linked with a number of big Premier League clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

The former Man City youngster impressed again on Sunday when the Saints earned a point on their travels to Old Trafford.

A scoreless draw was the outcome but the 19-year-old held his own in midfield, even though it was made easier by the fact United had a man sent off.

Not just any player either. Casemiro is by far the best defensive midfielder in the Premier League. His loss was felt and you can understand why United fans were left frustrated by Anthony Taylor’s decision before the break.

Lavia was recently labeled a target for Manchester United in a report from the Daily Mail, so we can expect to hear more about him between now and the summer.

However, a fresh update has emerged on Lavia regarding his preference over a future move.

Transfer insider Dean Jones has suggested that United could have an advantage over Chelsea, who are another Premier League outfit being linked with the young midfielder.

If it’s a choice between working under Ten Hag at Old Trafford or playing for Graham Potter at Stamford Bridge, there’s only going to be one winner as far as Jones is concerned.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones said: “I’m sure he’d rather play under Ten Hag than under Graham Potter. The way Ten Hag, this season, has been able to improve individuals on the whole has been really impressive.

“There have been some players in that side that were really underperforming and he’s managing to get levels out of them again. There’s still a long way to go for him — no doubt about it — but he is rebuilding that Man United team.”

The teenager has the world at his feet and Ten Hag’s side need more quality and depth in midfield.
