Stipe Miocic is supporting his fellow MMA fighter, as Francis Ngannou looks to beat Tyson Fury.
Former UFC heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic may be 1-1 with Francis Ngannou. However, that is not stopping him from rooting for his fellow UFC fighter to be successful against Tyson Fury.
Through two UFC title fights, Stipe Miocic has gotten very familiar with Ngannou, even derailing his initial hype train in the UFC by dominating “The Predator” in their first fight.
However, things would be very different in the rematch, with Ngannou showing more patience and earning a knockout over the American, before defending his belt once and fighting out his contract with the UFC.
Stipe Miocic wants Francis Ngannou to beat Tyson Fury
While Stipe Miocic is gearing up to face Jon Jones for the UFC heavyweight title, Francis Ngannou has since left the UFC and secured a fight with heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury. It was an unprecedented move, which has many people doubting the chances of the lineal UFC champ.
Despite some lacking confidence in Francis Ngannou, Miocic is actually backing his former opponent in the squared circle. Speaking in a recent interview, the two-time heavyweight king made it clear that he is hoping to see Ngannou beat Fury, using his power and footwork.
“Good for him. I wish him nothing but the best, man. Bigger and better things. I hope he does well. Tyson’s one of the best boxers of all time. But it’s a fight, Francis hits hard and he moves well. I just hope he shocks the world,” Miocic said.
“I think Francis finds a way. He makes it a fight. Not so much technical, he just makes it a fight. I think he’ll be alright… Anyone can win. It’s a fight, anything can happen.”
This is certainly a big show of support from Stipe Miocic, who has experienced the power of Francis Ngannou firsthand. Whether or not Tyson Fury can stand up to the shots remains to be seen.
