During UFC 285, Bruce Buffer played his part as the announcer and shared an encounter with stars Conor McGregor and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Gyllenhaal and McGregor were there to watch Jones make his comeback but also to film certain scenes for their film, Road House, which is a remake of the 1989 cult classic.
Bruce Buffer was tasked with lending his voice for a weigh-in scene featuring Jake Gyllenhaal and former mixed martial artist Jay Hieron. Buffer took to Twitter to give fans a closer look at some of the more intimate moments on set:
McGregor is also set to make an appearance in the film and was seen with Gyllenhaal. The Irishman actively engaged with the media and was in attendance to watch Jon Jones make his comeback and win the UFC Heavyweight Title.
Bruce Buffer, Conor McGregor, and Jake Gyllenhaal star in ‘Road House’
Jake Gyllenhaal plays the role of Elwood Dalton, a former UFC star who goes on to work in a Texas roadhouse. The original film starred Patrick Swayze, with the 2023 re-boot set to be a reimagining of the cult classic.
It is unclear what sort of role McGregor will be playing in the film. UFC 285 also doubled up as a set for some scenes from the movie. After the official weigh-ins, the production crew moved in to film a weigh-in scene.
Fans in attendance later saw Jake Gyllenhaal film his fight scene in the cage as he took on Jay Hieron. From what we can gather, there was a weigh-in scene and a fight scene filmed throughout the weekend. This is where Bruce Buffer’s biggest contribution appears to be.

In another piece of footage, Gyllenhaal can be seen filming the weigh-in scene and later getting into a physical altercation with Jay Hieron. The film appears to focus on nailing a realistic UFC setting and so, has cut no costs in filming, essentially, a real weigh-in.
