UFC fans have been reacting to a tweet from @UFCRosterWatch which officially confirmed that former light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira has been removed from the roster.
The Brazilian veteran faced Jamahal Hill for the vacant title at UFC 283 last weekend. Teixeira had been hoping to recapture the title he lost to Jiri Prochazka last year but was never able to find his footing. Hill dominated the fight from the offset and despite a gutsy performance from Teixeira, ‘Sweet Dreams’ won every round on the scorecards to take home the belt.
Following the five-round war, the 43-year-old laid his gloves down in the middle of the octagon and officially retired from MMA.
“Fighter removed: Glover Teixeira”
The Brazilian bowed out of the UFC with a glittering career that included him becoming the oldest first-time champion in the organization’s history, winning the title at the age of 42 versus Jan Blachowicz.
UFC fans have since been reacting to Glover Teixeira’s removal with a host of GIFs that perfectly encapsulated their feelings towards the MMA vet. One fan responded by adding a GIF of a dog sitting on a beach as the tide comes in.
Another fan used the image of a child tipping their cap, showing their respect for Teixeira.
Twitter user @dstab97 used a famous quote from Disney Pixar’s Toy Story to say his goodbyes to the former light heavyweight champ.

Jamahal Hill believes fight with Glover Teixeira could have been stopped
Newly crowned light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill has been reflecting on the best performance of his career after going toe-to-toe with Glover Teixeira for five rounds to win the title.
“Sweet Dreams” demonstrated elite striking throughout, coupled with his hugely successful take-down defense to neutralize any offense from Teixeira.
Due to Hill’s dominance and Teixeira’s inability to cause any damage, there has been a question of whether or not the fight should have been stopped. The American gave his take on the fight and lack of stoppage when he sat down with MMA Junkie’s Mike Bohn. Hill said:
“I wasn’t surprised that they didn’t stop it. But I thought it might have been able been able to be stopped. Well, the doctor might step in and stop the fight because I [have] seen the cuts you know? I seen the damage that I was doing and things, and it was bad, bro. It was a lot, you know?”
