Russian fighter Zabit Magomedsharipov will not be the next opponent to reigning UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, as the Australian will defend his title in February against American Brian Ortega, who is ranked second in the division.

The organization of the title match was announced by the president of the UFC, Dana White.

“Probably, the fight will take place in February, at the moment we are working on it,” – quotes the head of the organization bjpenn.com. “This is an interesting fight and I am looking forward to it.”

Alexander Volkanovski, 32, fought his last fight in July this year, beating Max Holloway in the title rematch by split decision, while 29-year-old Brian Ortega defeated the Korean Zombie by unanimous decision two months ago in a potential challenger fight.

Recall that for February, the largest mma promotion has a numbered tournament UFC 258, which will take place on February 13 in Las Vegas or Abu Dhabi.
