The referee for the Juventus – Fiorentina match may be suspended due to controversial decisions. The referee will most likely miss the next round.
In the 14th round of the Italian Serie A, Juventus lost to Fiorentina with a crushing score (0: 3). The chief arbiter of that match was Federico La Penna.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian Football Federation may suspend the referee from work at least for the next round.
According to the federation, La Penna mistakenly did not show Fiorentina midfielder Borja Valero a second yellow card for a foul on Rodrigo Bentancur in the second half.
Also, the referee also twice did not award a penalty to Fiorentina in disputable situations.
It is worth noting that this season, the head of the Italian referees’ committee, Nicola Rizzoli, has already suspended four referees from work for unfair decisions.
