Islam Makhachev disapproves of Ilia Topuria making demeaning personal remarks. The Spaniard has called for high-profile fights against popular fighters like Conor McGregor and Makhachev in recent times. However, his persistence seems to have irked the lightweight champion.
According to @HomeofFight’s recent post on X, Islam Makhachev told MatchTV:
“If Topuria continues in the same spirit, he may play himself out. Something may happen. So far I have not seen anyone cross any personal boundaries, so far nothing like that has happened. He needs to focus on his weight class and defending his belt at least once.”

Islam Makhachev‘s statement seems to respond to Topuria’s recent comments about testing himself in the 155-pound weight class. During an online Q&A session, ‘El Matador’ said that he could try his hand at lightweight. He also implied that he would get the better of Makhachev in a street fight but wants to fight him in a sanctioned bout to avoid “paying his medical bills”.
