Jamahal Hill is unfazed about fighting in Glover Teixeira‘s home country of Brazil, where the former champion will definitely have a home crowd advantage. The 43-year-old will be looking to become the light heavyweight king for the second time in his career at UFC 283.
While speaking with reporters during media day, Hill was asked about fighting in Brazil against somebody of Teixeira’s status, especially with a title on the line. He mentioned that he’s not worried about the fight environment, noting that he doesn’t believe the crowd will be a factor.
Hill said:
“I don’t care. The crowd can’t fight for him, so it doesn’t matter to me. However he feels, it don’t matter. I’m gonna do what I do and we gonna see what he could take.”
‘Sweet Dreams’ isn’t too preoccupied with the narrative surrounding a potential UFC light heavyweight title win in Brazil. He mentioned that he just wants to achieve his goal of becoming champion, saying:
“It adds a little bit more to the story, a little bit more to it in that regard. But for me personally, just getting the title. I just want the title – I’m hungry for gold.”
Jamahal Hill is confident, but it will be interesting to see whether the crowd response will eventually have an effect on his performance. Teixeira’s story of getting to the UFC and possibly becoming a two-time light heavyweight champion at age 43 will definitely have the crowd in Rio de Janeiro rallying behind him.

Jamahal Hill says he is impressed with Glover Teixeira
One thing that’s for certain ahead of UFC 283 is that there is no animosity between Jamahal Hill and Glover Teixeira. It is all business between the two as they compete in the main event for the vacant UFC light heavyweight championship.
The fight came together rather quickly as Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Blachowicz fought to a majority draw at UFC 282, resulting in the promotion booking another vacant title fight between Hill and Teixeira.
While speaking with reporters during UFC 283 media day, ‘Sweet Dreams’ mentioned that he has always been impressed by 43-year-old Teixeira, saying:
“I’ve always been impressed with Glover [Teixeira]. I’ve always been a fan of Glover, he comes every time. Every fight, just how he deals with adversity in the fights and things like that. So, yeah, it’s always been great to watch him.”
