Khamzat Chimaev is currently one of the most feared UFC fighters. The Chechen-born Swede is explosive and powerful, with top-level wrestling skills. He has mowed through most of his opponents since coming into the UFC.
However, fellow welterweight Philip Rowe believes that Chimaev will not be able to get through his guard even if he takes him down. Rowe tweeted:
“@KChimaev is a great fighter. But there’s nothing scary about his game. He’s very efficient at winning MMA bouts. BUT he’s immediately shooting on me off the bell. He won’t pass my guard. Eventually I’ll get to my feet… then”
Philip Rowe is an American fighter who is currently unranked in the welterweight division. He boasts a decent record of 10 wins and three losses, with just one loss in the UFC. Rowe has been on a hot streak lately, winning his last three fights via TKO. However, he has not fought any notable names yet and hence it is unlikely that he will secure a fight against Khamzat Chimaev.
Although Rowe is an excellent striker and has good takedown defense, if we go by Chimaev’s most recent performance against Kevin Holland, it will be an easy day in the office for ‘Borz’ if he manages to take Rowe down.
Khamzat Chimaev reveals that nobody wants to fight him
Khamzat Chimaev has stated that nobody wants to get into the octagon with him. ‘Borz’ is currently looking for his next fight, after successfully dominating Kevin Holland in September this year.
Although Chimaev has had problems making weight in his last two bouts, he remains one of the most dangerous fighters in the 170lbs division. In a recent YouTube video, he revealed that nobody wants to fight him:
“Nobody wants to fight, f**k these boys. They gave me four different countries, four different opponents, nobody wants to fight.”
He added:
“They speak a lot of trash talk, a lot of s**t about me. I don’t wanna fight you, I wanna fight you. When it comes to the fight and sign the contract, everyone runs away. Hope so, Vegas, March, we’ll see.”
‘Borz’ is hoping he can get a fight for March next year in Las Vegas, which will be six months after his fight against Holland. Khamzat Chimaev has title ambitions and will look to fight more in 2023 and possibly challenge for the belt.
