Jorge Masvidal will now be negotiating his own fight deals going forward after parting ways with First Round Management (FRM).
Masvidal was being represented by the athlete management firm co-founded by Malki Kiwa for over ten years.
According to Alex Behunin of MMA Mania, ‘Gamebred’ continues to share a good relationship with FRM.
“Jorge Masvidal is no longer being represented by First Round Management, per sources. He still has a relationship with FRM and are on good terms but will be negotiating on his own from now on.”

Masvidal’s split from his long-time management agency comes amidst the welterweight contender being embroiled in a legal dispute with Colby Covington. The Miami native allegedly assaulted Covington at a restaurant in Miami, not long after their fight at UFC 272 in March.
While Covington beat Masvidal via unanimous decision, Masvidal was still unhappy with of the comments that Covington made before the main-event of UFC 272. Masvidal and his former manager, Malki Kiwa, both took to Twitter to confirm this.
Jorge Masvidal is currently on a three-fight losing streak, losing to Kamaru Usman twice before his loss to ‘Chaos’ in March. He was most recently called out by Michael Chandler after UFC 281 but the two-time welterweight title challenger seemed uninterested.
Daniel Cormier believes Jorge Masvidal should seriously consider fighting Michael Chandler
Michael Chandler has made his intention to fight Jorge Masvidal very clear. However, the No.11-ranked welterweight is seemingly uninterested in facing ‘Iron’. Masvidal claimed that he sees no reward in fighting Chandler and doesn’t buy the hype around the lightweight.
However, UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier disagrees with Masvidal and recently shared why he believes Masvidal should consider taking the fight. Speaking on his podcast, Cormier stated:
“I believe there’s more value in this fight for Masvidal than he even believes… I think he needs to recognize that there’s more value in the Chandler fight than he believes because it might just get him closer to what he wants, and that’s another shot at the welterweight championship. “
After losing three fights in a row, Masvidal recently set his sights on fighting Gilbert Burns, who’s now scheduled to fight Neil Magny at UFC 283 on January 21, 2023. Michael Chandler is also coming off a loss against Dustin Poirier at UFC 281, getting submitted in the third round by the former interim champion.
